This isn’t the actual day of the Shards anniversary but we’re still in the same month and I hope you think it was worth the wait. I needed to finish the designs for at least the first drafts for four characters before I could complete this idea. Within each candle is a character as has not been seen yet. Soon, but not yet;) Enjoy a little sneak peek at the future of Shards!
A good friend of mine once posed the question of, if Humpty be an egg, what would hatch out of him (eventually)?
I was wanting to do something special for Easter for all those patient fans who have stuck with the comic for nearly four years. Not only are we showing what Humpty would look like as a My Little Pony character but we did it in a way that dared to answer that one question: What WOULD Humpty hatch into?… We hope you enjoy this little “easter egg” and we’re letting you know there’s a lot more to Humpty than you’ve seen. We can’t wait to get to the meat of this character, and the others. Big surprises in store! Rest assured, SHARDS is just getting warmed up in story reveals;)
I was listening to Bob Rivers’ “Twisted Christmas” while coming up with something to draw and got a little inspired:) I knew I wanted to draw Goldie but she’s just too naughty to do anything but what’s happening here. Yep. Definitely naughty. Don’t worry. She gets a giant lump of coal later on…
Happy Holidays from Shards!
Okay… So I have had a mad week. Car troubles, working over 46 hrs per week for two weeks straight now, and trying and failing to nurse a sick pet back to health. Sadly, my chameleon died yesterday. On top of that, I could not post even a sketch until today because for some reason I could not gain access to or view my site. You likely encountered that last night or early this morning if you were just dying for the next installment of Shards…
In other words, I don’t have the next strip ready due to a hectic week in the life of me. To help compensate, Humpty has stepped up to the plate and provided something to post today, inspired by our current set of Shards characters as super heroes.
When asked what super hero he’d prefer to be, he promptly drew this sketch. Much to my surprise, as I was unaware of Humpty’s unique artistic abilities.
“I’m still me; just buff! Oh, and rocket boots. I’d have to have rocket boots.”
Ah, Smudgy… The Cleaner’s faithful side-kick. Comes complete with scrubbing action and soap-on-a-rope.
Sorry. I’m exhausted. Not my best commentary but it’ll have to do. Time for sleep!
The Anti-Smudge crouched, winding up his cloth fists. The air crackled with the effort of containing his pent-up energy.
The dirty interloper took one step closer.
That pushed it. NO one messes with The Cleaner on his watch!
Smudgy launched himself, his fists spinning with the speed of a well-tuned motor. The everclean wash cloths constantly clutched in his grasp spun like Cuisinart blades. The interloper didn’t stand a chance.
When the screams and wails died down to a pile of pitiful wimpers, Smudgy flicked his evercleans free of grime and turned toward his partner. “Okay. He’s clean.”
Happy 4th of July! In honor of this particular holiday, I have started a small set of our heroes as the heroes they’d prefer to be. After all, superheroes are patriotic… right? Anyway, I present to you… Cindy as “The Cleaner”. No stain, no dirt, no grime is safe from her scrubbing action! Beware her non-toxic super-aerosols! Woe to any villain of a dirty nature who comes into contact with her Plunger of Cleanly Doom! Her most powerful super ability: Supreme Lecturer of Hygiene!
Stay tuned for her side-kick, “Smudgy”.
Ha ha:) Velvy’s our poster boy this Easter. I debated putting in the Easter Bunny at all. It’s not supposed to be gruesome. The Happy Hopper isn’t dead. Just… overwhelmed by Velveteen’s aura. Hee hee:) Hope he didn’t make Easter late for anyone! Happy Easter to all:)
