I like ‘living’ or near-sapient environments. “Genius Loci” or whatever TV Tropes refers to it as.

Why am I now expecting the library to transform into a giant steampunkish robot because of this new information? Also, I like Alice’s reaction!

David: This place is alive and reacts to your emotions.

    Alice: Your joking, right?

Funny how she’ll beleive in a place like Wonderland, but not something like a living library!

Ahh Auragongal, you bring up a great point; however, keep in mind when Alice was found she had JUST entered Wonderland. Also if you look at her reactions towards Mother Goose and Dr. Muffett, she does have a very easy time accepting fantastical things, but is still quite shocked when they happened such as:
    Here
    Ch1P27
    and here
    Ch1P24

So yes, she does have the “Your Joking” look and idea in her head, but I’m sure she BELIEVES David. I mean look at him…how could you NOT trust him :)?

Yeah, the oddest thing she’d seen before falling down the rabbit hole was a rabbit in a waste coat. Also note that each sentient thing holding a shard or shards gains at least partial modern knowledge. She might be fighting it just a bit: the reality of reality versus the kookiness of being in a story/being a story character and all the fantasy involved.
