ch.2, pg.82: “My Red Lady”
So ends Chapter 2! If you are wondering if the comic is now being presented in color *l*, no. The comic has always had color in it. We use color to catch the reader’s eye on various occasions and usually to hint at a clue or two. But for this “Red Lady”, I do believe she will always appear in red instead of grayscale, just as Dorothy, even in color, appears grayscale instead of colored in. It is the nature of the character and/or what they are wearing that has decided their chromatic fate;)
I sympathise. As a mathematician, my chromatic fate is “pasty”.
Has Red Riding hood gone Steam punk on us or is it just me ? :D
Um… She actually reminds me more of Vash the Stampede than true steampunk but Trigun definitely had a kind of Steam-Punkish feel I think.
Now I’m almost tempted to say she’s not Riding Hood but Bloody Mary. o.0
Good guess! Always a chance to see “Mary” another time. Heh.
One minor change is being made to the strip. After seeing the drawing of Red Riding Hood, her mechanical arm was not as evident as it needed to be. Jade is making the change very soon so that the fingers on her right arm don’t look as fleshy.
So it IS Red Riding Hood? There goes my Queen of Hearts theory. XD
Yep. It’s Red. TB asked me in the design phase: “Where’s her hood?” My reply? “Oh, it WAS there when she was younger. She simply goes by Red now, as that is the nickname she was given by Grandma. And her flaming hair and thirst for vengeance take place of the hood now long gone.”… or something to that effect ;)
Awww, you should have let them keep at the guessing, TB! Oh well:) As for the strip, yeah, but the detail is so small it is hard to tell what is actually going on.
With the hint of “Dae”, it confirms my guess that the old man he must be Daedalus. Most widely known for creating the Labyrinth. He was a genius in his time. Now apparently he’s Red Riding Hood’s Q Branch.
It all makes sense now(at least to me) with some of the other more recent stories written about him.
I knew it was Red Riding Hood the instant I saw the red hair tho. I can’t wait for this one.
I hope what I pull off comes close to what you are hoping for, Scott:) At least in the comic realm. I don’t handle too much on the running of the RP side of Shards. That’s TB’s domain;)
Yes, indeed it is. I thought of Leonardo or perhaps Aristotle but none clicked so much as the great Daedalus. He has a story all his own which I can’t wait to show you in Shards! I went with his more infamous one: he and his son were imprisoned as a result of showing someone how to escape the Labyrinth wherein the Minotaur lie, and to escape the tall tower prison he fashioned some wings for he and his son, Icarus, to escape with. His son (in the original and non-Shards-touched version) flew too close to the sun, the wax in the wings melted, and he plunged to his death. Well… The infiltrating shard altered his story a bit. More on that another time!
Dun dun duunnnn
Red looks freaking bad-ass. I love her design
