ch.3, pg.129: “Perfectly Broken”
Goldie’s room… is filled with lots of stuff! But even surrounded by all that perfection, Goldie feels empty and her dialogue reflects that. Prelude to the next strip!
If you’d like a closer look at her room, see the pic below. I think this is only a quarter of all the stuff in her room, and we get to see about 1/2 of her abode. She must be hiding the rest of it…
I must say her taste is awesome! How many of those interesting items can you name/tell where they are from?
I detect a C-3P0, a Sword of Omens, a Golden Fleece, a Golden Snitch, an Oscar Award, and the bottle from I Dream of Jeannie.
In addition the items mentioned above, the wardrobe mentioned below and the dwarfs’ souvenir picture already detectable in the sketch version:
a Van Gogh painting
a globus cruciger (I doubt it can be attributed to a specific king)
a smiley (which I would attribute to Tiffany Et of the webcomic Precocious)
If you want to know what I’m a nerd over, check out all the memorabilia in Goldie’s room, and keep in mind I grew up in the 80’s ;)
Macareaux> Yes on the “Sunflowers” Van Gogh! The “globus cruciger”? I’ll reveal what it really is but a hint first. Any Python fans out there? The smiley is actually a lot more ambiguous and in a completely different genre. Think anime… And the weapon at the top of the second panel? Good luck! Those who’ve seen the movie and loved it will likely remember it.
Pretty sure that the item above the Sword of Omens is the glaive from “Krull”. (Not really a fan of the movie, but I did see it a couple of times while donating plasma.)

You totally got it right! And I am a fan:)
Great start, Dave! If you want a hint, there are a total of 15 visible items :)
I don’t even care about everything else, all I care about is the WARDROBE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does this mean we’ll be going to Narnia? Please tell me this means we’ll be going to Narnia!
That currently belongs to Goldie due to the fact that she stole it. To my knowledge, no one is allowed in her room (I was tempted to give her door the vault door from Harry Potter–the Goblin’s vault. For all I know it is there but disguised). If you would like to pay for a trip there, she might be persuaded to if you happen to have a shard or some dust or perhaps a cloak of invisibility?
There are plans for a Snow Queen story for chapter 5 but that is THE Snow Queen story and not Narnia’s Snow Queen nor Frozen’s Elsa. Perhaps a shard landed in Narnia and the heroes may go at some point.
I know Goldie has a problem with Stealing, but can’t she quit ?
I mean doesn’t Goldie care about anyone else on the team besides Cinderella ?
…How’d you know she gives a darn about Cindy? And to answer your question, not as far as we’ve seen, but more on that in the next two strips as well as pretty much the climax of Chapter 4 ;)
Can she quit? Probably. Does she want to? Eh… Some of the characters had a flaw before they got the shard and others have one the shard has imparted to them. These are mainly characters from teaching stories so they are far from perfect. Little is known of Goldilocks from her story except she is a rude little girl who steals from bears with little regard to how well-off they are. Our Goldie is a version of her: selfish, taking what she wants, and caring little about others or their opinions of her. She is a true loner and that will not change. What will change, perhaps, is her attitude toward her fellows because — like it or not — they are all stuck with each other.
You almost described Goldie like the early days of Wolverine when he was a loner. So could this mean that maybe overtime Goldie could view the gang as her first true friends ?
Mmmaybe.
Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch! And the 3PO caught my eye, too. Loving the cameos here.
Greetings, Ordo! We’re in a little transition here but we have lots to see of previous comics while the waiting for the new stuff to kick in!:)
Holy Hand Grenade. I’m too young to remember 80’s and in my country Phyton isn’t very famous (at least, I have never heard of him before), but i recognize that one from Worms (among others, already mentioned items).
The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch is from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Great movie but not for kids exactly… Maybe Worms stole it from them?
Wow, 3 items I panel 6 still have people mystified. Pretty much anything colored in… The Holy Hand Grenade was a kind of stone color so it only looks not colored in.
