I admit that it’s been a long time since I’ve read the story of Hansel and Gretel, but pretty sure it’s similar to other tales with the “evil stepmother” as the one that wanted them dead and/or abandoned in the woods.
Which I guess means that having to face their father instead would be a lot harder for them…
Especially since in their prologue, their story was interrupted before they could return home. Where, if I remember right, their stepmother was dead and their father was grieving/depressed over the fate of his children? So, it could be that as far as they are concerned their last memories of their father were getting betrayed by him…
The original story has a few incarnations. Most have the dad as not a bad guy, just trying to make ends meet, just trying to appease the new wife, etc. I decided to take it a slightly different course:)
Do they feel betrayed? Now they do, yes, because as shard-touched individuals, they know their story and that their father purposefully sent them off into the woods, most likely to die. Whether he knew or not that the witch was there is up to anyone but ya bet yer booty that the step-mom knew.
You might be interested to know that the step-mom and the gingerbread witch are embodied by two of our three Triumvirate witches (The Hag, The Seductress/Temptress).
Gretel shows so much emotion in her simple pictures. I truly feel sorry for her and her brother confronted by their father. She maybe strong and simple minded, but she has an even stronger heart for the life she currently leads with her much smarter sibling.
Gretel is the Yin to Hansel’s Yang.
Hansel has always felt a bit cold to me. He does care for his sister, but he feels cold with the others on the team. He’s only excited and anger when it comes to exploiting his intellect, an insult to his intelligence, and his various experiments during his downtime.
This moment shows that just a simple reminder of his former life can render Hansel speechless for the first time in this adventure.
It would be interesting to see the aftermath of this adventures has the siblings trying to befriend their teammates and enjoying fun activities with them during their downtime.
Gretel would very much like to play but she does not always know her own strength. Hansel however does not like to play. Like, at all. Not how he currently is at any rate. And I don’t think the other heroes realize how much Hansel tempers Gretel’s strength with his own willpower. He knows exactly how strong she is. The reason why she doesn’t break everything around her is because of him. But it’s easy for him because their minds are pretty much linked. I believe in our notes it says that if one goes unconscious, the other does, too. Need to check on that, because that would mean their respective individual moods would have an effect on the other individual, which is most likely the case.
Nope. No hide and seek between them. Them against someone else? Yes, definitely. As for baseball, I’d say they’re more inclined toward boxing, cricket, soccer, etc. Less precision and more brute strength:)
It can create or rebuild any room to the specifications of the heroes it likes… So, yes, in theory, it can. I don’t believe Library has any beef against Hanstel… yet.

So I guess the idea of hide-and-Seek is not an option for Hanstel or Maybe Baseball with Hansel as the Coach.

Boxing huh? Now THAT I can see given Gretel’s brute Strength and Hansel’s intelligence I can see them wining a few belts.
In fact it would be a great downtime activity for them to do. At least if the Library has a gym where Gretel can train in.
I mean the HQ does have a GYM for the heroes to train in their abilities, right ?
