It really cracks me up that Humpty is shell-shocked about this.
*Thwacks Ipp* bad pun dude. And it’s now time for BACKSTORY!
Hurray! It’s clear! Thanks, Auragongal, for pointing out the start of a prologue! I drew Humpty’s a long time ago and have been waiting to put it out here. Unfortunately, I used a different format back then so I may have to redraw it. I still consider it “done”, however:)
Ippi> hee hee! I think Jack would laugh, too.
I also noticed that Humpty’s information page was unavailable. It was supposed to be revealed with him. So that’s now fixed. Sorry! I don’t think anyone noticed because no one spoke up. Look for new art content soon!
@Auragongal: You mean puns plural, right?
And while I’m here… *enters Hurricane (of (bad) Puns) mode*
Given that Humpty might be recalling his past ova and ova again, I can see why he feels so broken up – having a near-/post-death experience is definitely no yolking matter.
The funny thing about that whole thing Roy is that Humpty is technically Undead ;).
Tee hee! Lion Dorothy is awesome. I especially like her in the last panel. Poor Humpty, though. This encounter has his emotions scrambled. (Yes, I jumped on that wagon. What of it? =P)
@TrevorBlack: I suspected as much; hence the “post-death” comment.
I say that we ‘pan’ all of the bad jokes.
Yes, don’t put all your egg puns in one basket. (Totally stealing the ‘ova and ova’ one though. *l* And there HAS to be an opportunity for a “Somewhere ova the rainbow” joke…
Oh gods, this is 1/19 as punny as Xanth…
It sounds like poor Humpty has had a deviled of a time….
I was thinking Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon – more punning for the fun of it and less “can we force everything to be a pun?”
Roy, have you ever read a Xanth novel? Those things go beyond hurricane of puns, and straight into a Meteor impact of Puns or something.
So many puns!!! LOL. I’ll have one next time:)
XANTH! THERE ARE OTHER XANTHIES OUT THERE?!?
I’ve read several Xanth novels, and I’m kind of fond of the earlier ones… as in, before it devolved into “can we check in on all existing characters and include every fan-submitted pun?” Call it too much of a good thing, call it a Cluster Pun Bomb… either way, I personally find puns more enjoyable when they’re relevant to what’s going on.
Pun as part of battle/sparring of wits = very good;
Pun used to boost morale and/or break a downer mood = quite good;
Pun/pun-like aspect that advances/develops the plot = good;
Punny reference = varies by genre, but subtle usually does better;
Irrelevant “random encounter” pun = meh.
I have read every Xanth novel to date, and he even use one of my suggestions in Stork Naked.
