I really like how Scarecrow D turned out in the third panel. I find I like doing the close-ups. They tend to look better than the distant shots, too, in my opinion. And does anyone else think that Scarecrow D is a sexy beast?

I honestly have no idea why this made me think of the following question, but if Dorothy’s other three forms are controlled by the dominant minds of the Lion Tinman and Scarecrow, does that mean Scarecrow Dorothy is a man in a woman’s body? Or am I over thinking this?
To elaborate, Tin Man was a man in love with a Munchkin (it is never stated whether the Tin Man was a Munchkin himself or not) and the Wicked Witch gave him a cursed axe so that when he cut down trees to make a cottage to prove his love to the Munchkin girl he kept cutting off his limbs and getting them replaced. He valiantly continued his work but eventually the cursed axe chopped his heart and that also was replaced. This is why he is after a heart in the story.
As a scarecrow, Scarecrow never started with an actual brain as he’s stuffed with straw. He’s generally referred to in the masculine so we adopted that as well but, no, he isn’t or wasn’t a human man.
Cowardly Lion is also portrayed as masculine. It’s just the effect of the shard which combined Dorothy with her four friends that makes them all appear feminine. It was an accomodation. I think Dorothy would have had more trouble being in a man’s body than her friends being in a woman’s body. That, and I’ve never seen female versions of the Dorothy friends done. Hurray for unique! :)
I mentioned the gender thing when Dorothy’s other sides first started emerging (I believe it was her prologue, the comments in there) but notice how her friends are not bothered by being in a female body. Eh. They are more conformable I suppose:)
Huh. I guess when you live in a land with flying monkeys, evil witches, sleep-inducing poppies, talking moose heads strapped to couches, and probably a bunch more weird stuff I don’t know about because I only saw the movies and not the books, you probably just learn to roll with the strangeness.

Dave-> You are correct! But in all honesty the scarecrow is not a man. The Tin Man became the Tin Man all for love though :).
