Velty can Speak more coherently and clear now ? :(

And here I thought “friend” was his only word ? :(

“Rocky, do you think you’ve suffered brain damage?”

    “I don’t see any!”

I agree with Marcus, something about Velvy’s dialogue seems subtley different. Very curious why his head is cut open. I presume the Doctor did that as part of the inhibition? His head wasn’t cut open earlier…

The mentioned learning-more-about-Velvy part is why his head was cut open. As Velvy feels no pain, I presume the doc wants to figure out why. Is it simply because Velvy’s meant to be inanimate or is it the shard’s doing? That’s what Dr. M. is trying to determin.

Oh, and if you go back a few strips, the one with the “Just Add Cat” box? Velvy is asking if he can come out, and if he can have a hug. He has definitely spoken more before:J)

Interesting. Actually, Velvy could speak before but simply hadn’t an opportunity to show it. No one gave him the chance. They would usually die and leave him all puzzled and such :)

And, no, Velvy’s head was not cut open earlier. As an animated inanimate object, I wanted it to be clearly established that he is sentient but feels nothing physical. His feelings are all emotional, unlike Humpty, who is kind of a zombie and feels pain all the time.

Thanks for clearing things up, but I do wonder how Velvy will interact with the rest of the gang…now that he has been given the chance to speak his piece ? :(

I am anxious to show you more of Velvy and the rest of the gang!

I recall hearing somewhere that the brain does not have any sensation itself. So Velvy’s saying that the finger in his head doesn’t hurt would be anatomically correct for humans as well.

Minus the giant gash and gouged cranium, of course. XD

But, er, you probably shouldn’t try it, right?

Haha:) But because his head is open, his head should be feeling pain. The brain itself does not necessarily experience anything, no. Velvy, as you can see, does not have a brain to speak of. He really doesn’t feel anything physical. Now, does Humpty have a brain? Well, he’s not going to let Dr. M. crack him open to find out ha ha. But I have some different ideas what might lie beneath Humpty’s shell. Only time will tell…
