The looks on Goldie and David’s faces is priceless. Goldie looks like someone just killed her puppy.

Goldie: No fair! I wanted to beat him!

Hahaha:) Her surprise did not come through as well as David’s. They have never seen Alice do this, obviously, because she herself didn’t know she could. Obviously, I need more drawing practice with expressions reflected in black material LOL. But I like your reactions to it so it is one of those “good mistakes” artists often make:)

Me, I was just happy to finally show the detail of Alice’s bow and baton holders as well as the start of Alice’s melee ability with the batons that I believe Goldie’s expression of being left out fits perfect none-the-less. Hey, don’t feel bad, Goldie! Velvy hasn’t even been seen for two strips! Don’t worry. He’ll be back next strip.

Oh I think Goldie looks surprised.
David’s surprise looks more shocked/surprised. The open mouth, wide eyes and springy hair make him look shocked.

Goldie’s surprise looks more like a sad face because of the wrinkle in the mask that either intentionally or unintentionally looks like a frowny face. I think if you take that away the eyes are spot on “WTF just happened”

I think this came up before, it isn’t actually her mouth, it’s decoration. I think. One sec, I’ll pull up the page…

Goldie is always rude when she talks and I will have the speach bubble pointy thing pointing at her when she’s talking. It is not decoration. It is a reverse shadow to help denote her expression.
