OK, before I saw this I did put Velvy in a present within this game I made…
For some reason it just seemed like something that would happen.
I’m not sure I should (or can..) put a link to it down here, but I did email it to you.
And yes, it’s the thought that counts :)
Don’t worry Velvy, I’ll hug you! (Just as soon as I find a biohazard suit your disease aura can’t penetrate or corrode away…)
I’ll try to put a link here anyway… let’s see if this works: http://www.nextreleaseunknown.com/christmas2011/dungeon.html
If you manage to complete the game, you get to see a Christmas page. (also if you look in the game, you may find a present containing Velvy…)
bah u ppl and ur different customs! lol i was sure more ppl knew this game. might just be a different local name thing (yep just found it on wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yankee_Swap)
yankee swaps are a group gift exchange activity usually for parties with coworkers or friends, where everyone buys and brings one present, they all go under the tree, and they draw numbers
1 picks a present first, two can choose either to steal one’s present(the swap part) or take one of their own from under the tree, if they do swap one’s present then one takes from the tree instead. when they both have a present 3 gets to choose between any already chosen presents or from the tree, and the process goes on till u run through all the numbers, then at the end one who got the short end of the stick gets to choose from anyones present to make up for it and its over. u get what ur stuck with.
its usually a house rule that noone opens the presents till the end, but not always. the reason i referenced it is if jade brought velvy to a yankee swap with me there i might end up stuck with velvy as my gift, a scarey thought about the equivalent of Russian roulette.(wiki, not explaining XP)
try not to mind the typos, not used to the new keyboard, ask me if ur still puzzled ^^
That’s awesome! I usually call it “gift exchange mixup thingy” but my sister’s elementary school called it “White Elephant Christmas”. I’m originally a New Englander, but I live in Wisconsin now, and now I’m starting to hear Yankee-this and Yankee-That and I always miss the reference. :)
And so you have a new reader. Possibly the first of a few to come soon. The aforementioned game combined with me being up at 5AM and trying to think of something to do resulted in this. I do not regret it for a moment.
I would *really* love to have access to the RPG, I’d try and get a long game running down here. (If your system supports long-term play anyway. It seems it can go both ways?)
If you’re talking about our RP content then yes, it is designed to have a system for progression. There is a “Power level” in the system which indicates how powerful a character is, but it is not a traditional leveling system where you just gain a ton of power in one go. Instead you gain power points which you can allocate into your character however you wish.
Currently I’m working on how to fairly create powers that have a good range of fun and possibility without creating something that is so “uber” everyone feels the need to take it. Unfortunately this procedure is currently pretty complex compared to the rest of character generation and has to be simplified before it’s ready to be posted.
I’ll make you a deal though, if you can get us up to 150 facebook likes I will post 2 more character sheets of our heroes AND the monster card of the “Big Bad Wolf” that the heroes fought in their last adventure.
We’ll be playing again this New Year’s, it’s an adventure I’ve been planning for over a year now and we’re now just getting started into it :).
Thanks, Dave, I had a pretty good Xmas, but poor Dovahkiin is very beside himself lately. Lots of crying; however, these last couple of days have been pretty good. We’ve gotten the biggest smiles we’ve ever seen and his Thuums are quieting down a little bit :).

When the Christmas present has toxic goo seeping through the bottom, you KNOW it’s gonna be a fun one. :D
