Ooooo a new commenter! Welcome Auragongal, I hope you’re enjoying our comic so far!
We just hit 2500 new visits! Jade and I are very VERY excited about all the new people coming to read our comic, especially considering how we only launched 2 weeks ago! Please, if you’re enjoying our comic, spread the word and like “Shards Webcomic” on Facebook if you have it. We have a surprise ready in the form of my absolute FAVORITE hero of shards for our readers when our 10000th visitor comes in or 250 facebook likes. You won’t be seeing this hero for quite awhile so we want to give you a little taste of what to expect.
And yes the storyteller’s drugs are seeping into Alice’s world, and this is an extremely important element of Alice’s character in our world.
Hi there, Auragongal and Erinsoriac:) Glad you like it so far. And don’t worry, Erin. Shards has lots to it. We discover stuff all the time, making connections never seen before as well as weaving older stories and new ones. A lot of thought goes into Shards and one of my favorite things to do aside from drawing the characters is to do “jam sessions” with TB, working out points of interest or plot twists.
By the way, the man portrayed is not based on any particular screenwriter. I just call him Joe — short for “Joe Blow Screenwriter”.
I’m sure it will come up eventually so I’ll just answer now: I am pretty much against drugs, however sometimes I address addiction in the comic. I’m not for drugs, but as I writer and artist, I will draw and write what my characters do and they frequently do things I may never do. Like the fact that me no likey roller coasters, but I’m sure Alice would love them:)
Aaah, now it makes sense to me. :D
Just reread the previous and this strip and now it makes more sense. I’m really looking forward to see what happens to Alice!
And I will go like you on FB immediately! :D
Hi there, Dark Falz. And that’s real good thinking. I haven’t let the real and the story mix just yet. For now, I wanted to show the concept that a real mirror has influence over the story world. It’s a portal, but also you’ll see as the story progresses that all mirrors are linked — real and story ones. Now having Joe Blow Screenwriter use a magic mirror would be something cool, too:) He’s just a one shot for now but he could always come back. Heh heh:)
Okay! So we’ve gotten a couple of comments on how confusing things are so we’re gonna clear it up a little. We feel when we can’t make it fairly clear whats going on, and that people are confused, that we haven’t done our jobs as storytellers. Posting here on what is going on is kinda cheating, but its just the easiest way to get the point across.
In the last strip the screenwriter, frustrated from his lack of ideas and imagination, decided to get out his “Edge.” We thought it was great that some people thought his edge would be the mirror, but in actuality it was drugs. Upon doing these drugs the screenwriter was so “Into” his story and thought process that reality spilled into the Shards universe. In this case his drugs spilled into his current thoughts on “Alice in Wonderland.” The drugs are now reacting with Alice’s “Eat Me, Drink Me” foods and causing her to wig out.
Since the breaking of the Mirror, reality spills over into the Shards universe quite often, and time doesn’t always have to be a factor in this. Stories and ideas from ALL ages will appear in these upcoming comics! Our first real adventure starts in about 8 comics and we’re looking forward to showing you just how chaotic their world can get!
well,that can’t be good.

I just read through the whole thing, and I really like the story so far. This is getting put into my small, but rapidly expanding, list. :)

I wonder if she likes to catch snowflakes on her tongue.
And here I was thinking that she was going to talk to the Magic Mirror…
I like Dorothy the best so far.
