Ah, you noticed! The mirror Velvy has found is THE magic mirror. It currently has three returned shards (if you’ve been paying attention, can you name where they come from?) The empty space is indeed a void of some kind. The properties of the back of the mirror and the fact that it appears to be a true void from the front in that you can stick your hand in/through it, are not fully explained yet. I must remember to ask Mother Goose the next time we chat;)
For those not aware, I have mapped the entire fragmented mirror. I knew before ever starting the original Shards RP campaign what the mirror looked like, where each of the 56 shards fit, and the shape of each one (as well as who has which). These are set facts because in the beginning I knew it would be important to know these things right off the bat. So I got out a deck of cards and cut them to match only one way. It’s a bit zany but I’m so glad to let you all see the actual magic mirror and start getting it all to click visually, FINALLY! This strip almost turned out completely different. I’m glad I went this way, though, and had Velvy find the magic mirror, because next strip you get to see one of Velvy’s other abilities;)
Good catch, Kotih:) If you click on the “first” button at the top about the comics, it will take you to the first ever look at the magic mirror. It did have a different design back then. I believe that when Mother Goose took it with her to the realm of story where it now sits inside the Library of Alexandria, its appearance altered. I use this theme a lot. Something that is the same thing but has a different name or appearance. Look for this in the future! But in actuality, the mirror has always looked the same in shape. The frame on the outside has altered a bit, and now the shards look like broken or cut cards from a deck of cards, but other than that it has the same weird hourglass shape I came up with long before designing the final frame of the mirror. If I were to draw it again in the real world if it appeared there somehow, it should look as it did to the Brothers Grimm in the very first strip of Shards.
Okay, seriously that is just cruel and Mean. :(
You know when the loneness has gone to far when you start talking to your reflection. :(
Seriously, could anyone try to step up for him and be friends with this little guy, even if it’s from afar ? :(
Don’t worry:) His loneliness and purpose in life is a plot devise. More in the next few strips:)
I seem to remember someone sticking up for him to stop Jack from bullying him just two pages ago.
I am cruel… I laughed at this.
ouch
ah the memories, ive sadly hit that low before x.x
Narcissism may be Velvy’s only hope. ;p
also, awww…
Well technically Alice is frozen in time (only the suit allows her to move) so it is very possible that she would not get sick around him.
Is the non-reflective part of the mirror empty space, or a void?

Is it dangling carrots? XD
Silly, Dave;)
so the outer world and inner world mirrors are different designs?
