Looks like my theory was right. This was Seiben’s plan all along. Given how he’s the final dwarf he must have overseen the others confrontations with the team and noticed how Alice remains unaffected by this unique madness until now. So he was planning on how to affect Alice and Alice alone when the group came to confront him.
Besides what better danger than the one you’re least expecting. Having Miss Muffet go nuts over her blood craze was just an added bonus.
Now here we are in Halloween month in a clash of the monsters Shards style and the others can only just watch as this goes bad to worse for them. Seeing Alice, the more level-headed being in the group next to David, unleashing like this is pure nightmare fuel for them. Right ?
Goldilocks has to be lucky the two Monsters aren’t paying attention to her because if she thought Alice and Miss Muffet were a pain and a problem before this…
Also of all the times for Gretel to not be with them. I am wondering how she would react to all of this and if she and Hansel would be a tad jealous of Alice’s and Miss Muffet’s unique appetites against her and her brother’s appetites ?
Actually, they’d prefer their appetites weren’t what they were. Miss Muffet and Alice may be formidable but it is a contest Hanstel would not choose to win (but of course they’d lose to mad-Alice for sure ;P) And, yes, mad-Alice is nightmare fuel indeed. Moreso than even Miss Muffet’s “monster side”, in my opinion.
I agree. Miss Muffet, as she is now, contains in (unwanted but forced) coexistence both the spider and the original miss Muffet. Even when the spider’s appetite and instincts are in control she is still in there trying to control (or at least mitigate) their combined actions. Facing Miss Muffet’s ‘monster side’ you still have an ally in miss Muffet herself. And the spider is not mad, just hungry (and maybe afraid, if it thinks you’re a predator).
Mad Alice, however, is genuinely mad, and not in the ‘harmless, benign’ way of The Mad Hatter. Just totally, over the top, insane.
I’d much rather deal with ‘monster Muffet’ than Mad Alice. (Though, I admit, it’s good to have both of them on the other side of the fourth wall.)
I mentioned quite a while ago that I had an idea about how the combination of spider and girl fit together. It never (yet, anyway) came together. My description above about miss Muffet (the original, as I’m writing it) and the spider combining to be our Miss Muffet contains pretty much everything from my original theory that still seems to hold together.
And ‘Mad Alice’? Yeah, still just plain crazy. If you aren’t running, it’s probably too late to start….
(There’s a guy I’ve seen at SF conventions wearing a shirt that says, on the back, ‘I’m an explosives expert. If you see me running, try to keep up.’)
You are too smart, you! I cannot confirm or deny HOW you are correct about Miss Muffet but you are indeed. More will be shown/revealed at a much later time (think “Chapter 6: Long Division”) so we’ve a ways to go. Rest assured it’s more than what you think, and more than what it appears ;) I have loved writing the journals to show the inner relationship of Miss Muffet and her “monster side”.
